Vermont State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a suspicious death investigation that took place in Brownington on Wednesday evening. Ariana Rodger, a 43-year-old resident of Newport, is facing several serious charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated domestic assault in the first degree, and violation of release conditions.
The inquiry was initiated earlier on Wednesday when authorities were alerted to a deceased male found at a residence near Brownington in Orleans County, located within the Northeast Kingdom. Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed the discovery of a body.
Preliminary findings suggest that the situation stemmed from a confrontation between individuals who were acquainted with one another, as stated by the police. Following this, the victim’s remains were sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington, where an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the specific cause and manner of death.
Rodger is scheduled to appear for her arraignment at the Newport Criminal Division of the Vermont Superior Court later today. Updates will follow as the situation develops.
