FEMA has confirmed a new batch of disaster relief funding almost three years after severe flooding affected various communities in Vermont. Recently, the agency disclosed its approval of $2.2 million designated for public assistance.
A significant portion, exceeding $1.1 million, will be directed to the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans). This funding will be utilized to restore a section of the Green Mountain Railroad tracks and repair a bridge located on Route 103 in Chester, both of which suffered damage during the floods in July 2023.
Additionally, over one million dollars will be dedicated to addressing the repairs needed for Broad Brook Road in Royalton. This contribution is a part of a larger financial commitment of $1.2 billion that FEMA announced for more than 200 extensive Public Assistance projects across the country.
